I’m a husband and father to two young daughters, and I live and work in Ward 7. For the past 10 years, I’ve worked as an Associate Director with an Indigenous non-profit organization, building experience in community leadership and advocacy.

Public education has shaped my life, and I’m now at a stage where the decisions we make about our schools directly affect my own family. I believe every child deserves a great public school close to home, with strong teachers, well-supported students, and the resources they need to succeed.

That means investing in every school, supporting teachers and families, and building trust and strong leadership across our public education system.

Public education has profoundly shaped my life. I’m a lifelong learner and am currently completing my doctoral studies at Toronto Metropolitan University. I came to Canada as a first-generation immigrant from a war-torn country where access to public education was not something I could take for granted.

Toronto, and Ward 7 in particular, gave me the opportunity to pursue my education and build a life for my family. Now, as my two daughters begin their own journey through Toronto’s public schools, I want to make sure they — and every child in our community — have the same opportunity.

Our schools need strong investment, accountable leadership, and a renewed sense of hope. Ward 7 is home to diverse and vibrant families, and our children deserve schools where they can learn, grow, and feel supported. I want to be a trusted advocate for our families and a strong voice for the public schools our community depends on.

Research has shown that the best school for our children are not the most prestigious, but rather the nearest schools to a family’s home which provides convenience and a sense of community. It means that we need to raise standards at every school.

Our public schools need leadership that is willing to think differently and focus on what families and students need today. The TDSB is one of Canada’s largest and most important public institutions, but our schools are facing growing pressures and difficult choices about funding and priorities.

As a parent, I believe every child deserves a safe school, strong teachers, the right resources, and the opportunity to reach their full potential. That means paying attention to the issues families face every day — from school capacity and mental health supports to special education, student safety, equity, housing stability, and access to programs.

The role of a school trustee is also changing. Artificial intelligence and new technologies are already changing how our children learn and how they will work in the future. We need trustees who understand these changes, ask the right questions, and make thoughtful, practical decisions.

Ward 7 contains some of the most prominent downtown Toronto’s schools and some of its most diverse communities. I’m running to be a strong advocate for our students, families, teachers, and schools — and to help ensure that every child has the support, skills, and opportunities they need to succeed.
